About Nico Robin From One Piece
Nico Robin was born in the West Blue on the island of Ohara. Her mother, Nico Olvia, was also an archaeologist; thus, she displayed an early interest in history and archaeology. At the age of eight, she ate the Hana Hana no Mi Devil Fruit, which allowed her to create and control extra body parts on any surface.
But her peaceful life took a tragic turn when the World Government targeted Ohara’s scholars for researching the Void Century. As the Buster Call was initiated to destroy Ohara, Olvia told her to flee while she and the other scholars faced their inevitable demise. The World Government placed a massive bounty on Robin’s head.
Robin’s luck changes when she first encounters the Straw Hats during the Alabasta Arc, where she initially serves as an antagonist working for the criminal organization Baroque Works. But her true motivations are revealed over time: seeking the ancient Poneglyphs to uncover the Void Century’s secrets. So, following the defeat of Baroque Works and the liberation of Alabasta, she reluctantly joins the Straw Hats during the Water 7 Arc. Her iconic “I want to live!” moment is a fan favorite, where she expressed her desire to escape a life of constant running and persecution.
Robin’s past becomes a central focus during the Enies Lobby Arc, though, where the Straw Hats launch a daring rescue mission to save her from the clutches of the World Government’s secret intelligence agency, CP9. This arc unveils the tragic history of Ohara and the significance of her knowledge about the Void Century. Now an integral crew member, Robin utilizes her archaeology skills to help the crew decipher Poneglyphs and pursue the mysteries of the One Piece world. Her interactions with the crew highlight her gradual acceptance and healing from the trauma of her dark past.
